Course Summary: This 5.5-hour online automated course is intended for dental healthcare professionals and their related teams. It offers updated theoretical training on the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR 17) and fulfils the continuing education and training requirements for Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R17). The course aligns with the syllabus outlined in Schedule 2 of IRMER and meets the requirements of the GDC (General Dental Council). A certificate of theoretical training will be provided. Aim: The aim of this course is to update dental healthcare professionals' knowledge and compliance with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R17) and Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) 2017. It ensures safe working practices and improved patient care. Objectives: This course comprehensively covers all aspects of Radiography and Radiation Protection as outlined in the GDC Guidance Notes for General Dental Practitioners and aligns with the syllabus set out in Schedule 2 of IRMER. Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, delegates will be able to: • Discuss IRR 2017 AND IR(ME)R 2017 and their importance in practice. • Discuss the production of x-rays and methods of restricting exposure to themselves and others. • Discuss the biological effects of radiation, including risks and benefits. • Discuss the implications of the regulations in relation to patient management, radiation dose, and its measurement. • State the duties and responsibilities of key personnel as defined by the regulations. • State the role and responsibilities of the employer, referrer, operator, practitioner, and medical physics expert in the context of the regulations. • Discuss justification of medical exposure and the ALARP principle. • Discuss the importance of dose limits, controlled areas, investigation & notification of incidents, training, monitoring, optimization, and Quality Assurance. • Discuss common imaging faults
